Arsenal keen on signing Sevilla’s Lucien Agoume

Arsenal are reportedly considering a January swoop for Sevilla’s talented midfielder Lucien Agoumé, according to reports from Fichajes.

Arsenal Planning Ahead for Midfield Depth

After losing Thomas Partey and Jorginho in the summer, Mikel Arteta’s side moved quickly to bring in Christian Nørgaard and Martin Zubimendi — the latter recently bagging the Premier League Goal of the Month with his thunderous strike against Nottingham Forest.

While Arsenal’s midfield currently looks balanced, Arteta and sporting director Edu are already eyeing long-term reinforcements. With Nørgaard turning 32 next year, the Gunners are keen to add fresh legs and energy to the heart of their squad — and Agoumé has emerged as a leading candidate.

Agoumé’s Rise at Sevilla

Standing at 6ft 1in, the Frenchman has been one of Sevilla’s most consistent performers this season. His tireless work in midfield has been key to the Andalusian club’s strong start in La Liga, where they sit sixth and boast one of the division’s best defensive records — just 11 goals conceded, the joint-third fewest so far.

Agoumé’s ability to read the game, break up attacks, and dictate tempo has made him indispensable to Matías Almeyda’s system. Calm under pressure and confident on the ball, he often drops deep to link defence and attack, showcasing impressive passing range and positional intelligence.

A Perfect Fit for Arteta’s Philosophy?

Sevilla reportedly value the France U21 international at around £34 million, though a deal could be negotiated if the player pushes for a move.

Agoumé’s mix of physicality, composure, and tactical awareness fits perfectly into Arteta’s high-intensity, possession-based system. Should Arsenal decide to make a formal approach in January, the 22-year-old could become a vital addition — not just for squad depth, but as a long-term successor in Arsenal’s midfield engine room.
