Barcelona to rival Liverpool for Timo Werner

The La Liga leaders Barcelona have reportedly placed emphasis on signing Liverpool target Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, according to Spanish outlet Sport.

The German international has scored 25 goals for Die Roten Bullen this term and is rumoured to be open to a move to the Merseyside giants.

However, the aforementioned report claims that Barcelona have joined the race to sign the 22-year-old forward as cover for the injured Luis Suarez.

Whereas the Reds are not looking to add any more players to their squad, the Catalan giants are said to be hopeful of completing a deal with the Bundesliga outfit over the next fortnight.

Werner is likely to cost £60m and is thought to also be on Chelsea’s radar.
