Barcelona have reignited their interest in Benfica defender Daniel Banjaqui, with Manchester United and Newcastle United also keeping tabs on the teenager ahead of a possible summer move, according to Sport.

Benfica Set High Price for Teenage Defender
The 18-year-old has penned a deal until 2031 containing an €80 million release clause. Benfica are reportedly willing to talk if bids land between €35 million and €40 million, though the figure could climb towards €50 million should his form continue to impress.
Banjaqui has played just six times for the senior side, totalling 416 minutes. With a long contract in place, the Portuguese club face no pressure to cash in.
Why Barcelona May Hold Back
Hansi Flick already has Eric Garcia, Jules Kounde, Joao Cancelo and Xavi Espart available on the right. Even so, Kounde’s Premier League links could change the picture, and Barcelona’s tight finances suggest caution rather than a rushed pursuit.
Premier League Threat
United are still reshaping their squad and could see Banjaqui as a long-term investment, while Newcastle have a track record of backing promising youngsters and can offer a clear route to top-flight football.
Our Take
Spending €40 million on a player with six senior outings looks a stretch for Barcelona right now. Yet if Banjaqui becomes a regular starter, his price will rise quickly. Waiting too long could hand the Premier League clubs the advantage.
