Newcastle United identify Edinson Cavani as top transfer target?

Newcastle United have reportedly identified Paris Saint-Germain ace Edinson Cavani as a potential summer signing, with the club’s prospective new owners desperate to lure some high-profile names to St. James’ Park.

According to ESPN, the Premier League outfit are hoping to make the 33-year-old Uruguayan their first big signing, with the striker’s contract set to expire at the end of June.

On top of that, the Magpies are also hoping to bring in either Massimiliano Allegri or Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager.

Cavani, PSG’s leading all-time goalscorer, has scored 200 goals in 300 appearances for the Parisians since arriving from Napoli in 2013.
