Chelsea to rival Barcelona for Georginio Wijnaldum?

Chelsea are reportedly ready to lock horns with Barcelona over the signature of Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.

The 30-year-old is set to run out of his contract at the end of the season, allowing the likes of Barca to hold discussions with the Dutchman should they wish to pursue a deal.

With that said, the Blues are unable to follow suit, leaving them to consider their options before making an official bid at the beginning of June.

Marca claims that Chelsea are interested in signing the Netherlands international should he become available on a free transfer.

While the Premier League giants are well stocked for options in the final third, manager Thomas Tuchel is expected to make some changes to his squad later in 2021.

The defending English champions Liverpool want to retain the services of Wijnaldum, who has made 40 appearances in all competitions this season.
