Liverpool weighing up summer move for Darwin Nunez

Liverpool have reportedly “explored” the possibility of signing Benfica forward Darwin Nunez during this summer’s transfer window.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed an impressive 2021-22 campaign for the Portuguese, contributing 23 goals and two assists in 29 appearances in all competitions.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool have set their sights on the Uruguay international’s signature ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.

The report claims that the South American is open to moving to Anfield this summer, although the Reds would have to be prepared to pay somewhere in the region of £55m for his signature.

Nunez, who still has more than three years on his contract, has scored 37 times and registered 14 assists in 73 appearances for Benfica.
