Bayern Munich keeping tabs on Matthijs de Ligt

Bayern Munich and Chelsea could reportedly slug it out over the summer for the Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt.

According to Defensa Central, the Netherlands international is strongly considering a move to Stamford Bridge. But Chelsea’s road to sign the centre-back won’t be easy, as the Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are involved in the chase as well.

The Bavarians are considering signing De Ligt ahead of the new season. It is no secret that the Germans are looking for defensive reinforcements after losing Niklas Sule to league rivals Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer.

Although the Old Lady are aware of the Dutchman’s desire to leave Turin, they are not expected to listen to offers below the €100 million mark.

Chelsea had reportedly targeted Mohamed Salah prior to his contract extension with Liverpool. They are expected to spend big for de Ligt as well, with the centre-back widely considered to be the favourite for head coach Thomas Tuchel.

De Ligt will see his contract at Turin expire at the end of the 2023-24 season.
