Liverpool are pushing hard to land one of German football’s most exciting young talents, with reports from reliable insider Florian Plettenberg confirming the Reds have entered concrete talks to sign Hertha Berlin midfielder Kennet Eichhorn this summer.
A Record-Breaker Still Only 16
Eichhorn isn’t just another promising teenager — he’s already rewriting the history books. Back in August, he shattered the record to become the youngest player ever to appear in Germany’s second division, making his debut against Karlsruher SC aged just 16 years and 14 days. A month later, he became the youngest-ever starter in Bundesliga 2, and he hasn’t looked back since.

Across this season, the defensive midfielder has racked up 17 Bundesliga 2 appearances, starting 14 of them, before an unfortunate January injury temporarily halted his momentum.
Premier League Giants Circling
Eichhorn hasn’t gone unnoticed. Manchester United and Arsenal have both been credited with interest, but it’s Liverpool who appear to be moving fastest — and most seriously.
Plettenberg reports that Eichhorn is ready to leave Hertha this summer, with the Berlin club valuing him between £8m and £10m. Given Liverpool’s track record of snapping up elite young talent — including Talla Ndiaye, Ifeanyi Ndukwe, and Colombian wonderkid Samuel Martínez — this feels like a very natural fit.
At 6ft 1in with a composed passing range and the temperament to control a game, Eichhorn looks tailor-made for the Premier League. If Liverpool get this one over the line, it could be a generational signing in the making.
