Manchester City have reportedly turned their attention to Belgium in the search for a long-term centre-forward option. Nicolo Tresoldi is said to be the name on their list, with Fichajes claiming a €50 million offer is being prepared for next summer.
Why Manchester City Want Tresoldi
The 22-year-old joined Club Brugge from Hannover for around €7 million in July 2025 and is contracted until June 2029. His value has climbed sharply, with Transfermarkt estimating it at roughly €35 million.
Brugge turned down a €35 million approach from Roma in the summer and are believed to want between €40 million and €60 million. City’s reported valuation would therefore sit comfortably within that range.
Tresoldi also has the numbers to back it up, with 16 goals in 27 Germany Under-21 appearances and a combined 32 goals and assists last season.
Premier League and European Rivals
City face plenty of competition. Chelsea, Newcastle, Everton and Leeds are reportedly monitoring the forward, while Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich and Dortmund have also been linked. Brugge are not expected to sell in January, so any deal looks like a summer story.
Our Take on the Tresoldi Transfer
City should not be searching for another Haaland, and Tresoldi does not need to be one. His readiness to drop deep and link play suits a possession-based system, while his movement in the box keeps him a genuine scoring threat.
A fee of €50 million is a considerable outlay for a player yet to prove himself at the top level. However, City can afford the gamble, and Tresoldi looks more like a developing successor than an instant replacement.
