West Ham United leading race for Michy Batshuayi?

West Ham United have reportedly entered pole position in the race to complete a deal for Chelsea outcast Michy Batshuayi.

With Timo Werner expected to join the Blues later in 2020, the west London outfit will look to offload Batshuayi, who is now surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.

The 26-year-old forward has struggled in to hold down a regular first place since his £33m move from Marseille four years ago. He has always been down the pecking order.

According to The Express, Chelsea have slapped a £40m price tag on the Belgian with the Hammers at the front of the queue.

The report goes on to claim Crystal Palace remains admirers of the striker after a previous loan deal, but the Eagles are unwilling to stump up the required amount.

Newcastle United are also said to be monitoring the situation ahead of their big-money takeover by a Saudi Arabia-based consortium.

Batshuayi has netted 25 times in 77 appearances for Chelsea and has a deal until 2021.
