West Ham United have resurrected their interest in the 26-year-old Wolverhampton Wanderers centre-back Max Kilman.

The Hammers are actively seeking a central defender during the mid-season transfer window, reigniting their pursuit of the Wolves captain after targeting him in the summer.

Kilman, who joined Wolves in August 2018, has quietly evolved into one of the Premier League’s underrated defenders. The London native and former Fulham trainee took time to gain recognition but has emerged as a key player, recently assuming the role of club captain.

With 128 appearances for Wolves, Kilman’s leadership skills have attracted attention, with West Ham considering a move. However, competition may arise, as Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur were interested in the summer but haven’t maintained their pursuit.

West Ham’s potential interest in Kilman stems from the need to bolster their defensive options, considering Nayef Aguerd’s potential departure and Angelo Ogbonna’s advancing age. Despite the interest, a mid-season move for Kilman might face challenges, given Wolverhampton Wanderers’ aspirations for a top-half finish under manager Gary O’Neil. West Ham may need to explore alternative options in their quest for a January centre-back signing.
