Man Utd consider Hugo Larsson swoop

Manchester United’s midfield rebuild isn’t finished yet. Despite already landing Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa this summer, the Red Devils are reportedly chasing a third addition — Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Larsson — according to Caught Offside.

Why United Need Reinforcements

Casemiro’s exit and Manuel Ugarte’s serious knee injury left United dangerously light in the middle of the park, with Kobbie Mainoo the lone senior option before this summer’s spending spree. Santos has already linked up with Michael Carrick’s pre-season squad, while Tielemans is enjoying a post-World Cup break with Belgium.

Newcastle Muscle In

United won’t have it easy. Newcastle United are also chasing the 22-year-old as a ready-made replacement for Bruno Guimaraes, who has attracted interest from Arsenal — and the Magpies are said to be stepping up their pursuit.

The Frankfurt Price Tag

Larsson’s contract runs until 2029, so there’s no panic-selling from Frankfurt. But as a club that thrives on smart sales, they’re open to cashing in for around £51m.

What Makes Larsson Special

Standing at 6ft 2in, the right-footed Swede is a genuine box-to-box operator — comfortable dropping into a defensive midfield role or driving forward. Sharp passing range, strong game-reading, and relentless work-rate define his game. Since arriving from Malmö in 2023, he’s racked up 47 appearances and eight goal contributions, though injuries disrupted his rhythm last season.

With Ayyoub Bouaddi, Sander Berge, and Alex Scott also on United’s radar, the midfield merry-go-round at Old Trafford is far from over.
