Chelsea are reportedly exploring a surprise move to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, according to the Independent.
Rashford’s Turbulent Season
The 28-year-old’s Old Trafford future looked finished after a fallout with former boss Ruben Amorim.
Despite an impressive campaign in Spain — 14 goals and 11 assists across all competitions — Barcelona chose not to make the deal permanent. The resurgence was enough to earn Rashford a recall to the England national team.
With Amorim now gone and Michael Carrick installed as United manager, Rashford has been retained for squad depth as the club prepares for Champions League football this season.
Why Chelsea Could Move for Rashford
The Independent suggests Chelsea are open to signing a versatile forward, provided they can offload enough players before the transfer deadline. Rashford, valued at around £34m, tied to a contract until 2028, fits that profile — though United would be under no pressure to sell cheaply.
Primarily a left-winger, Rashford can operate on either flank or through the middle as auxiliary cover. His pace, dribbling ability, set-piece delivery, and range of passing make him an attractive squad option for any Premier League side.
Chelsea’s Options Elsewhere
Chelsea have already strengthened out wide this summer with Morgan Rogers arriving from Aston Villa and enjoying a strong start to the campaign. Jamie Gittens also offers cover on the left, meaning a marquee move for Rashford may not be a pressing need — particularly with Chelsea absent from Europe this term.
