Barcelona are considering a summer move for Liverpool right-back Jeremie Frimpong, with the Netherlands international reportedly open to joining the Catalan giants.

Barcelona Add Frimpong to Right-Back Shortlist
Spanish reporter Juan Jesus claims Pedro Porro is not the only name on the Blaugrana’s list as they look to strengthen at right-back in 2027. Frimpong is also under consideration, and the 25-year-old is said to be receptive to the move.
Hansi Flick reportedly wanted the Dutchman when he took charge in 2024, while sporting director Deco has continued to monitor him. Liverpool are expected to demand around €35m (roughly £30m), matching what they paid Bayer Leverkusen last July.
Frimpong’s Liverpool Struggles
Frimpong arrived at Anfield with high expectations after helping Leverkusen to their unbeaten Bundesliga title in 2023/24. Yet he has managed just 40 appearances, two goals and two assists, with injuries disrupting his first season. This term, he has played only 299 minutes across five outings under Andoni Iraola.
Why Barcelona Need an Attacking Full-Back
Jules Kounde’s future is uncertain after Eric Garcia overtook him in Flick’s pecking order, prompting links with Chelsea and Liverpool. Barcelona want a defender who offers more in the final third, which explains the interest in Porro and Frimpong.
At Leverkusen, Frimpong recorded 30 goals and 44 assists in 190 games, numbers few full-backs in Europe can match.
Our Take on the Frimpong Rumour
Frimpong’s struggles look more about opportunity and fitness than ability. Liverpool’s lack of faith in him this season makes a sale plausible, and a fee equal to his purchase price limits their leverage. Flick’s attacking system would suit his pace, so he could offer Barcelona real upside at a modest price.
